Things to Do

Where a gorge is a museum over 400 million years old.

No matter where you stay, you’re not far from action in one of our curious communities of Iowa City.

Who knew there was a giant sloth often decorated for the holidays displayed at the Museum of Natural History or the first capitol of Iowa on the University of Iowa Campus? For the adventurous, The Devonian Fossil Gorge lets you travel back 375 million years ago with climbing and fossil hunting. For the young at heart or the young on the run, the Iowa Children’s Museum is the perfect place.

If you haven’t been here lately, you’ll want to experience the eclectic, collegiate spirit of Iowa City and the University of Iowa combined with the retail shopping and recreational attractions of Coralville and North Liberty - there is adventure around every corner.  Jump on a bike and ride miles of trails, visit historic attractions and museums that define where we came from and visit unique shops not found anywhere else.
