Our Curious Communities
Iowa City is a center for art, culture, education and recreation. It boasts a vibrant, bike- and pedestrian-friendly downtown with many bars, restaurants, boutique shops and a legendary independent bookstore. Home to the University of Iowa, world-class healthcare, and a blend of new urban and historic neighborhoods with engaged residents from all over the world, the whole city has an entrepreneurial spirit that turns creative ideas into action.
Coralville is home to Coral Ridge Mall, with 1.2 million square feet of retail. Many smaller, independent shops thrive in the more intimate Town Center district. The 180-acre Iowa River Landing brings together retail and condominium space alongside hotels, local restaurants, boutique shopping, antique car museum and a sculpture walk that winds along the river. The Coralville Center for the Performing Arts, a 482-seat, state-of-the-art venue, and a spacious public library also call this thriving community home.
North Liberty serves as a gateway to the many recreational opportunities afforded by parks, trails, Coralville Lake and the adjacent 14,000 acre Hawkeye Wildlife Preserve. The North Liberty Community Center offers many activities for all ages with two full-sized gymnasiums, meeting rooms, an indoor track, Kid's Campsite play area, an indoor pool and outdoor aquatic center. The Community Center is also home to the boisterous North Liberty Community Library with more than 32,000 items to satiate the curiosity of six- and sixty-year-olds alike.
