Watch an outdoor viewing of Nomadland!
FilmScene and proudly announces FilmScene in the Park, an outdoor cinema built in partnership with the Iowa City Parks and Recreation Department located at Chauncey Swan Park. The inaugural season of curated programming will include five acclaimed films from the last year and six family-friendly selections in partnership with the Summer of the Arts Free Movie Series.
Admission is free and open to the public. Seating will be first-come-first-served for all screenings, with movies beginning at sunset. Health and safety protocols will be in place including social distancing aided by painted markers on the lawn. The city-wide mask mandate will be enforced when moviegoers are not eating or drinking.
Following the economic collapse of a company town in rural Nevada, Fern (Frances McDormand) packs her van and sets off on the road exploring a life outside of conventional society as a modern-day nomad. The third feature film from director Chloe Zhao (The Rider), Nomadland features real nomads Linda May, Swankie and Bob Wells as Fern's mentors and comrades in her exploration through the vast landscape of the American West.
