Brucemore presents the 23rd annual Classics at Brucemore production with Picnic, a Pulitzer Prize-winning play written in 1955 that takes place on the porches of two homes on Labor Day weekend in a small town in Kansas. In this story about love and coming of age, we meet a charming and handsome young drifter who visits town the morning of the picnic. In just 24 hours, the unmarried women explore what love is, what it feels like, and who they are with or without it.
Audiences are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, picnics, and beverages to the show; the gates will open at 6:30 pm for pre-show picnicking. On-site parking available by entering the Linden Drive gate beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tickets through 3:30 p.m. the day of the show are $15 for students and $20 for adults. Brucemore members receive a $5 discount per ticket if purchased prior to 3:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the gate for $25. Tickets may be purchased online at www.brucemore.org, by calling (319) 362-7375, or by visiting the Brucemore Visitor Center.
