Boiled Baked Brouhaha

Back to Previous

Boiled Baked Brouhaha is the culmination of an online art-inspired recipe competition. Entrants with the most likes by December 1st will be invited to make and share their culinary creations at this event. Prizes (along with fame and glory) will be awarded to the tastiest and most creative recipes.

All competing recipes in this event will be reinterpreted by Iowa City Press Co-op artists and will be included in a hand-printed, limited edition cookbook.

This event accompanies the UIMA Legacies for Iowa exhibition "Boiled, Baked & Brewed," which explores the visual culture of grains; specifically wheat, corn, and rice. These three simple grains are the foundation of diets around the world. From India to Africa and the Americas, the visual culture of grain production and consumption can illuminate aspects of daily life, technological change, and foundational cultural beliefs. The exhibition is on view at the Figge Art Museum from late November 2017 through April 2018.
