It's been said that Augusta has the best tenderloin in Iowa and one of Iowa's greatest chefs, Ben Halperin, with all kinds of delicious, locally sourced, seasonal and made-from-scratch food. He won the Top Chef Under Forty award and other various awards for different dishes at many contests. Chef Ben learned his trade with Bravo TV's award-winning Top Chef, Susan Spicer, who is the owner of two award-winning New Orleans restaurants. He also worked with Geraud Maris of The Brennans, who is now a culinary professor. Oxford is where Ben and Jeri Halperin started after being displaced by Katrina, but thanks to the local support they have opened a new restaurant in Iowa City.
